Barsebäck Golf & Country Club
Barsebäck Golf & Country Club is a golf club located in Barsebäck, in the northern part of Metropolitan Malmö in the province of Skåne in southern Sweden, just by the Oresund strait. The club has two 18-hole courses, the 72-par Masters Course (finished in 1969 and designed by Ture Bruce) and the 71-par Donald Steel Course (finished in 1989 and designed by Donald Steel), as well as a 9-hole course. Battle of the Sound
The naval Battle of the Sound took place on 8 November 1658 (29 October O.S. ) during the Second Northern War, near the Sound or Oresund, just north of the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Sweden had defeated Denmark and an army under Charles X of Sweden had Copenhagen itself under siege. The Dutch fleet was sent to prevent Sweden from gaining control of both sides of the Sound and thereby controlling access to the Baltic Sea as well as of its trade.

Battle of Helsingborg (1362)
The Battle of Helsingborg was fought in 1362 between Danish and Hanseatic fleets. The fleets met on Øresund near Helsingborg, where the sound is most narrow. The Danish were led by Valdemar IV of Denmark. The Danish were victorious. The Hanseatic Cities lost twelve cogs since their admiral Johann Wittenborg had made the mistake, that he let too many men go to fight the Danes ashore and therefore there were too few left to defend his fleet on the sound.

Øresund
The Sound, locally known as Sundet, is the strait that separates the Danish island Zealand from the southern Swedish province of Scania. Its width is just 4 kilometres at the narrowest point between Kronborg Castle at Helsingør in Denmark, and the northern harbour of Helsingborg in Scania, Sweden. The strait has also lent its name to the Øresund Region of 3.8 million inhabitants on both the Danish and Swedish sides.

Sound Dues
The Sound Dues were a toll on the use of the Sound which constituted up to two thirds of Denmark's state income in the 16th and 17th centuries. The dues were introduced by King Eric of Pomerania in 1429 and remained in effect until the Copenhagen Convention of 1857. All foreign ships passing through the strait, whether en route to or from Denmark or not, had to stop in Helsingør and pay a toll to the Danish Crown.
