Vombsjön

Vombsjön (sometimes called Våmbsjön) is a lake in Scania, Sweden. It is located 20 km to the east of Lund and lies in the municipalities of Lund, Eslöv and Sjöbo. The lake has been the source of drinking water for Malmö since 1948. Its watershed is 447 km.

2008 Skåne County earthquake

The 2008 Skåne County earthquake occurred at 06.20am CET on December 16, 2008, and affected the southern part of Sweden and eastern parts of Denmark. The epicenter was 5 km southwest of Sjöbo and 60 km east of Malmö. The earthquake was considered "moderately strong" with a local magnitude calculated at 4.2 - 4.3 on the Richter magnitude scale. Strong shaking was reported widely in Sweden from Skåne to Östergötland, in Denmark, and in northern Poland.

Södra skånska regementet

Södra skånska regementet (South Scania Regiment), designation P 7, is a Swedish Army armoured regiment that traces its origins back 1811. It was converted from an infantry regiment in 1963 and renamed from Södra skånska infanteriregementet (South Scania Infantryregiment). The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from Scania, and it is currently garrisoned in Revingehed outside Lund, in Skåne County.

Scania

Scania is the southernmost of the 25 traditional non-administrative provinces (landskap) of Sweden, constituting a peninsula on the southern tip of the Scandinavian peninsula, and some adjacent islands. The modern administrative subdivision (län) Skåne County is almost, but not quite, coextensive with the province. The largest city is Malmö, which is also the third largest in Sweden and the administrative centre of Skåne County.

Hörby transmitter

Hörby transmitter is a transmission mast located in Östra Sallerup, near Hörby in the south of Sweden. Due to its location in the middle of the province, it provides FM radio and television to most of Scania. It is 320 metres high and when opened in October 1959 it was one of the tallest structures in Europe. It transmits the four national channels from Sveriges Radio: SR P1, SR P2, SR P3 and SR P4. Two versions of P4 are provided: SR Malmöhus and SR Kristianstad.
