Bjärby Runestones

Vara Municipality

Vara Municipality (Vara kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Vara. The present municipality consists of 25 original local government entities (as of 1863). Between 1974 and 1982 the territory of present Essunga Municipality was also included.

Grästorp Municipality

Grästorp Municipality (Grästorps kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Grästorp. Grästorp Municipality is located right in the middle of Västra Götaland County, by the shores of Lake Vänern. In the year 1900 the village Grästorp was detached from Tengene and made a market town. The local government reform of 1952 amalgamated it with twelve surrounding municipalities (among them Tengene).

Skalunda

Skalunda is a village in Västergötland, Sweden and the site of Skalunda Barrow, a historic burial mound. Hög, from the Old Norse word haugr, means mound or barrow. The modern English cognate, still in use, is "howe", "how", or "hoo", as in Sutton Hoo. At the church, there are two runestones and to the west of the church there is the Barrow of Skalunda which is the largest one in Västergötland. Skalunda Barrow is one of the larger barrows in Scandinavia.
