Läckö Castle

Läckö Castle is a medieval castle in Sweden. Läckö Castle is best known as Magnus de la Gardie's magnificent castle on the shores of Lake Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden. Brynolf Algotsson, Bishop of Skara, laid the foundations for a fortified castle in 1298 originally as a fort that consisted of two or three houses surrounded by a wall. After a fire during the 1470s, the fort was expanded by bishop Brynolf Gerlachsson. After the reformation in 1527, King Gustav Vasa took possession.

Skalunda

Skalunda is a village in Västergötland, Sweden and the site of Skalunda Barrow, a historic burial mound. Hög, from the Old Norse word haugr, means mound or barrow. The modern English cognate, still in use, is "howe", "how", or "hoo", as in Sutton Hoo. At the church, there are two runestones and to the west of the church there is the Barrow of Skalunda which is the largest one in Västergötland. Skalunda Barrow is one of the larger barrows in Scandinavia.

Lidköping Municipality

Lidköping Municipality (Lidköpings kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Lidköping. Lidköping sometimes refers to itself as "Lidköping by Vänern", possibly to distinguish itself from the namewise (and historically) similar city of Linköping in eastern Sweden.

Sparbanken Lidköping Arena

Sparbanken Lidköping Arena is an indoor arena in Lidköping, Sweden. It is the home arena for the bandy team, Villa Lidköping BK. The capacity of the arena is 4,500 for bandy games and 12,500 for concerts, and the arena was opened on December 25, 2009. The Attendance record for a bandy game is 5,122 on December 26, 2011 when Villa Lidköping BK played vs IFK Vänersborg.

Lidköping-Hovby Airport

Lidköping-Hovby Airport, also known as Lidköping Airport, is an airport situated 5 km outside Lidköping, Sweden. The airport was built by the Swedish Air Force in the 1940s. It was bought by Lidköping Municipality in 2000 and is now in civilian use.
