Qigu District

Qigu District is a rural district of about 25,415 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. It was previously a salt producing area, but now most of the salt products are imported from other counties. The Qigu Lagoon is located in this township, and an ecological conservation area for Black-faced Spoonbills is situated on the estuary of the Zengwun River.

Fort Zeelandia (Taiwan)

Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built over ten years from 1624 to 1634 by the Dutch Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie, in the town of Anping on the island of Formosa, during their 38-year rule over the western part of that island. Although the site was previously named Orange City (奧倫治城), Anping City (安平城), and Taiwan City (台灣城), the current name of the site in Chinese is Anping Fort (安平古堡).

Anping District

Anping District is a district of Tainan City. In March 2012, it was named one of the Top 10 Small Touist Towns by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan.

Eternal Golden Castle

The Eternal Golden Castle, alternatively but less well known as Uhrkuenshen Battery, is a defensive castle in Anping, Tainan, Taiwan. The castle was built in 1874 by the famous Qing official Shen Baozhen in order to safeguard the coast and to defend the island against Japanese invasions. In 1895, when Taiwan was invaded by the Empire of Japan, the Taiwanese people fought against the Japanese battleship from this fortress.

Kingdom of Tungning

The Kingdom of Tungning or Kingdom of Formosa was a government that ruled part of southwestern Taiwan between 1661 and 1683. A pro-Ming Dynasty state, it was founded by Koxinga (also known as Zheng Chenggong) (鄭成功) after the Ming government in China was replaced by the Manchu-ruled Qing Dynasty. Koxinga hoped to use the island as a base of operations to train military forces and recapture mainland China from the Manchus.
