1941 Chungpu earthquake

The 1941 Chungpu earthquake was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake which occurred on December 17, 1941 and was centred on the town of Chungpu, Taiwan. It was the fourth-deadliest earthquake of the 20th century in Taiwan, claiming 358 lives.

Baihe District

Baihe District is an old town located in Tainan City, Taiwan. It is known for its hot springs and Lotus Festival today. The town borders Chiayi County to the north and east, Dongshan District to the south, and Houbi District to the west. Some aboriginal tribes of Siraya people are live in here. Although they still exist today, their lifestyles and traditions were almost replaced (or perhaps some were absorbed) by Han Chinese culture.

National Chiayi University

National Chiayi University, abbreviated NCYU, is a public university located in Chiayi, Taiwan. It was formed in 2000 by merging National Chiayi Institute of Technology and National Chiayi Teachers College . The University has six colleges, which include seven doctoral programs, 42 full-time master's degree programs, twelve part-time master's degree programs, and 38 undergraduate programs now . NCYU is one of the oldest and largest universities in southern Taiwan.

Kagi Shrine

Kagi Shrine was a Shinto shrine located in Chiayi Park, in Chiayi city The shrine was built on October 28, 1915 facing south but later altered in 1942 to face west. The shrine was originally categorized as a prefectural shrine in 1917 but elevated to small shrine rank in 1944. Prince Yoshihisa, Ōkunitama no Mikoto (大国魂命), Ōnamuchi no Mikoto (大己貴命), Sukunahikona no Mikoto (少彦名命) and Amaterasu were enshrined as deities.
