Gaoping River

The Kaoping or Gaoping River is a major river in Taiwan. It flows through Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County for 171 kilometres, draining a basin of 3,285 square kilometres, with an average discharge of 241 cubic metres per second . The river rises in forks in the southern part of the central Taiwan cordillera, several of which begin just south of Yushan. These forks combine near Provincial Highway No. 20 and flow southwards, past Liouguei and Gaoshu Townships.

Meinong District

Meinong District is a Hakka district in Kaohsiung, Republic of China (Taiwan). The area has grown tobacco since 1630 and is renowned nationwide for its oil paper umbrellas. These oil paper umbrellas are made mainly by the Hakka population and exported to Japan. The name Meinong originated from Minong (瀰濃), which was the name during the Japanese conqure. But when the local aborigines called it "MALANG", it adpoted the new name Meinong.

Ligang Bridge

The Ligang Cable-stayed Bridge is a bridge in Taiwan. It crosses the Kaoping River on the Second Southern Freeway, entering Pingtung City. It is the longest in Southeastern Asia with the second longest span in the world, measuring 2617 meters long. The tower is 183.5 meters tall (at the height of a 65-storied building). The side span is 180 meters long, while the main span is 330 meters long.

Buddha Memorial Center

The Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center is a Mahayana Buddhist cultural, religious and educational complex located in Taiwan's Kaohsiung City, Dashu District. The center is affiliated with Fo Guang Shan, one of Taiwan's largest Buddhist organizations. The center houses one of the tooth relics of Gautama Buddha, the founder of the Buddhist faith. Construction of the center began in 2008, and the complex was opened to the public in December 2011.
