Dar es Salaam Region

Dar es Salaam Region is one of Tanzania's 30 (since March 2012) administrative regions. The regional capital is the city of Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam is the wealthiest region in Tanzania. It is also the most densely populated region with 1,786 people per square mile. The region of Dar es Salaam has the population of 2,487, 288 according to the 2002 national census. The region also has the second highest population growth rate after Kigoma region at 4.3%.

University of Dar es Salaam

The University of Dar es Salaam is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city and former capital. The university was formed in 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London. The university became an affiliate of the University of East Africa (UEA) in 1963, shortly after Tanzania gained its independence from the United Kingdom.

Ubungo is a ward in the Kinondoni district of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is located in the western part of the district and is known throughout much of Tanzania as one of the central hubs of transportation because of its massive bus terminal.

Bongoyo Island

Bongoyo Island (or simply Bongoyo) is an uninhabited island in Tanzania, situated 2.5km north of the country's largest city, Dar es Salaam. It is the most frequently visited of the four islands of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve (DMRS) and a popular daytrip for both tourists and Tanzanian residents alike for snorkelling and sunbathing. The island lies close to the Msasani Peninsula (in the Kinondoni district of the city) and is reachable by means of a 30 minute boat ride from the mainland.
