Haubi

Haubi is an administrative ward in the Kondoa district of the Dodoma Region of Tanzania. According to the 2002 census, the ward has a total population of 12,894. Haubi is a little village less than 1 km from Haubi Catholic Mission Station. There are no public water or electricity there. The lake Haubi has been investigated as a natural historical archive. Kondoa Rock Art Sites

The Kondoa rock art sites are a series of caves carved into the side of a hill looking out over the steppe, c. nine kilometres off the main highway from Kondoa to Arusha, about 20 km north of Kondoa, in Tanzania. The caves contain paintings, some of which are believed by the Tanzania Antiquities Department to date back more than 1500 years. The paintings depict elongated people, animals, and hunting scenes.

Battle of Kondoa Irangi

The Battle of Kondoa Irangi was a battle of the East African Campaign of World War I. Following successes at the battles of Latema Nek and Kahe, Entente forces under the overall command of General Jan Smuts continued their advance southwards into German East Africa. By April 17, 1916, General Van Deventer's 2nd Division had reached the vicinity of the town of Kondoa Irangi - where they made contact with a unit of German Schutztruppe.
