Makete District

Makete District (sometimes also spelled 'Mwakete') is one of the five districts of Njombe Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the North and West by the Mbeya Region, to the East by the Njombe District and to the South by the Ludewa District. It is divided into six divisions and 17 wards. Makete District was founded in 1979 with the policy of the Ujamaa. Before, this part of Iringa Region belonged to Njombe District.

Mchuchuma

Mchuchuma in south western Tanzania near the northern tip of Lake Nyasa, is the site of major coal deposits. There is also a thermal power station costing$612m. Recent studies indicate that Mchuchuma/Katewaka coal deposits should be connected to the coast by rail to facilitate exports.

Kipengere Range

The Kipengere Range, also known as the Livingstone Mountains, lies in southwest Tanzania at the northern end of Lake Malawi. From the town of Mbeya the range runs south-east and forms part of the eastern escarpment of the East African Rift, extending about 100 km down the north-eastern shore of the lake to the Ruhuhu River. At the north-western end of the range they are known as the Poroto Mountains. Where they tower above the lake they are also known as the Kinga Mountains.

Matema

Matema is a town in southwestern Tanzania. The town is primarily a fishing village with some agriculture. It is located on the northern tip of Lake Nyasa (Lake Malawi) and is 90 kilometres (straight line distance) south-east of Mbeya.
