Nungwi
Nungwi is a fishermen's village and a tourist attraction located at the northernmost tip of Unguja (Zanzibar), East Africa. In the past it was mostly known as a dhow boatyard. Until the 1990s, the local population was opposed to tourism, so Nungwi's beach is one of the last in the area to host hotels and other touristic structures.

Zanzibar ferry sinking
On 10 September 2011, the MV Spice Islander I, a passenger ferry carrying over 2,000 passengers, sank off the coast of Zanzibar. The ferry was travelling between Unguja and Pemba, two islands off the coast of mainland Tanzania, when it capsized. Early estimates put the death toll at around 200, but a report published by the Tanzanian govenment in January 2012 claimed that over 1,500 people had been killed.

Tumbatu
Tumbatu Island is the third-largest island making up Zanzibar, part of Tanzania in east Africa. The island is located off the northwest coast of Zanzibar's main island, Unguja. The island is eight kilometres long and is surrounded by a reef, making it somewhat isolated from the rest of Zanzibar, even though its southern shore is only two kilometres from Mkokotoni on Unguja.

Mnemba Island
Mnemba Island is a single small island located about 2 km off the northeast coast of Unguja, the largest island of the Zanzibar Archipelago, Tanzania, opposite Matemwe Beach. It is roughly triangular in shape, about 500 m in diameter and about 1.5 km in circumference. It is surrounded by an oval reef seven by four kilometres in extent. These reefs have been declared a Marine Conservation area.
