Thai Airways International Flight 261

Thai Airways International Flight 261 was scheduled passenger flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Surat Thani, Thailand. On 11 December 1998, the ill-fated flight was being operated with an Airbus A310-300, registration HS-TIA. Thai Flight 261 carrying 146 people on board took off from Don Mueang International Airport at 11:40 UST on a two hour flight to Surat Thani.

Tha Kham, Surat Thani

Tha Kham is a town in southern Thailand. As of 2006 it covers an area of 14.10 km² and has a population of 20,349. It covers parts of the subdistrict Tha Kham of Phunphin district, Surat Thani Province. It is located at the shore of the Tapi River. The Surat Thani Railway Station is located in the center of the town.

Surat Thani Railway Station

Surat Thani Railway Station is the main railway station in Surat Thani Province, Thailand. It is located on the SRT Southern Line, at 651 kilometres from Bangkok. The station is on the east bank of Tapi River in Tha Kham town, Phun Phin district. Surat Thani Station first opened in 1915, and was originally named Phun Phin Station. The name was later changed to "Surat Thani Railway Station".

Bandon Bay

Bandon Bay is a bay in the Gulf of Thailand in the Surat Thani Province, extending from the Sui cape in Chaiya district in the northwest to the Kanchanadit district to the east. The total coastline is about 100 km. The bay is dominated by the estuary of the rivers Tapi and Phum Duang. The islands of Ko Samui, Ko Phangan and Ko Tao enclose the bay from its eastern side. The bay is relatively shallow, with water depths ranging from 1 to 5 meters.
