Biga Çayı

The Biga River is a small river or large creek in Çanakkale Province in northwestern Turkey. The river begins at the base of Mount Ida and trends generally northeasterly to the Sea of Marmara. It is located approximately 50 km to the east of the Dardanelles. It flows past the towns of Çan and Biga and enters the Sea of Marmara at Karabiga. It is also known as the Can (Çan Çayı) and the Kocabas (Kocabaş Çayı) The Biga was the classical Granicus .

1983 Biga earthquake

The 1983 Biga earthquake hit northwestern Turkey on 5 July 1983. Responsible for five deaths and approximately twenty-six casualties throughout Biga and Erdek and damage in Istanbul, the earthquake measured 6.1 on the Surface wave magnitude scale. It shook places as far away as eastern Greece. The United States Geological Survey listed the earthquake among the "Significant Earthquakes of the World" for 1983.

Karabiga

Karabiga (Karabuga) is a town in Biga District, Çanakkale Province, in the Marmara region of Turkey. It is located at the mouth of the Biga River, on a small east-facing bay, known as Karabiga Bay. Its ancient name was Priapus or Πρίαπος.

White Bridge (Mysia)

The White Bridge was a Roman bridge across the river Granicus in Mysia in the north west of modern-day Turkey. Presumably constructed in the 4th century AD, it belonged in Ottoman times to the important road to Gallipoli on the Dardanelles. The structure was praised by early European travellers for its fine construction and marble facing, but was plundered for building material during the 19th century.

Gümüşçay

Gümüşçay (former Güvercinli) is a town in Biga district of Çanakkale Province, Turkey. At {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:40|17|N|27|17|E||| | |name= }} it is situated in the Anatolian portion of the province 10 kilometres south of Marmara Sea coast. The distance to Biga is 6 kilometres . The population of Gümüşçay is 2039 as of 2011. The settlement was an Ottoman district center named Güvercinli.
