Ayaskent, İzmir

Ayaskent (former Ayasili and Ayasköy) is a town in Bergama district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Göçbeyli is a town in Bergama district of İzmir Province, Turkey. It is situated to the north of Bakır River at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:39|13|N|27|24|E||| | |name= }}. The distance to Bergama is 20 kilometres and to İzmir is 125 kilometres The population of Göçbeyli is 1835. The oldest inscription in the settlement is dated 1214 in Hicri Takvim (1799 AD) .

Pergamon Altar

The Pergamon Altar is a monumental construction built during the reign of King Eumenes II in the first half of the 2nd century BC on one of the terraces of the acropolis of the ancient city of Pergamon in Asia Minor. The structure is 35.64 meters wide and 33.4 meters deep; the front stairway alone is almost 20 meters wide. The base is decorated with a frieze in high relief showing the battle between the Giants and the Olympian gods known as the Gigantomachy.
