Sümer, Mardin

Sümer is a town in Dargeçit district of Mardin Province, Turkey. Situated at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|32|N|41|39|E||| | |name= }} it is 10 kilometres west of Dargeçit. Distance to Mardin (prevencial center) is 110 kilometres . The population of Sümer is 2364 as of 2011. Sümer was founded during Abbasid rule (9th century). In 1994 it was declared a seat of township. Major economic activity is agriculture and animal breeding. But the only notable crop is grapes.

Altıntaş, Mardin

The Assyrian/Syriac village of Altıntaş is located 15 kilometers northeast from Midyat, in the Mardin Province of Turkey. It has a population of 1,622 inhabitants, and in the village, is Syriac, an Aramaic dialect spoken. The church Mor Izozoel was established in 934 AD and is considered to be an example of ancient Syriac architecture. Tension among the Christian Syriacs and Kurdish Muslims have had a long history in this area.

İzbırak, Midyat

İzbırak is village in the Midyat district of Mardin Province, Turkey and is about 20 kilometers north of Midyat. The village is surrounded by grape gardens and fruitful trees. The middle of the village lies a popular pond (Raumo). In the upper half village is the Church of Mor Dimet with their castle-well-behaved structure. In the middle half of the village is the Church of Mar Shmuni, as well as Mar Gabriel in the lower half.
