Kayalı is a small importing village in the southeast of Turkey, in Şırnak Province, near Mardin Province. Kayalı is between the cities of Midyat and İdil (Azekh, Beth zabday) near the Syriac Orthodox Mor Gabriel Monastery.

Altıntaş, Mardin

The Assyrian/Syriac village of Altıntaş is located 15 kilometers northeast from Midyat, in the Mardin Province of Turkey. It has a population of 1,622 inhabitants, and in the village, is Syriac, an Aramaic dialect spoken. The church Mor Izozoel was established in 934 AD and is considered to be an example of ancient Syriac architecture. Tension among the Christian Syriacs and Kurdish Muslims have had a long history in this area.
