Trabzon Province

Trabzon Province is a province of Turkey on the Black Sea coast. Located in a strategically important region, Trabzon is one of the oldest trade port cities in Anatolia. Neighbouring provinces are Giresun to the west, Gümüşhane to the southwest, Bayburt to the southeast and Rize to the east. The provincial capital is Trabzon city, and the traffic code is 61. Sümela Monastery

The Sümela Monastery, is a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia, meaning "All Holy" in Greek) at Melá mountain, in the region of Maçka in the Trabzon Province of modern Turkey. Nestled in a steep cliff at an altitude of about 1,200 metres facing the Altındere valley, it is a site of great historical and cultural significance, as well as a major tourist attraction of Altındere National Park.

Dumanlı (Greek: Σάντα - Santa) was a mid-size town in Gümüşhane Province close to its border with Trabzon Province, today it is just a village in Gümüşhane. It consist of seven villages: Piştofandon: 400 houses, St. Kyriake, St. Panteleimon, St. Christophoros churches, a primary school and fountain of Christoforos. Etymology pishtof "gun" + anton toponomical suffix in Greek Zurnaciandon: 120 houses, St. Georgios, St. Constantine, St. Kyriake churches and a primary school.

Boztepe hill, Trabzon

Boztepe or Mount Minthrion is a hill near Trabzon in Turkey. It is located 3 kilometers southeast of the city center of Trabzon. The Değirmendere Valley lies to the west of Boztepe. The Kaymaklı quarter occupies most of the Boztepe hill. The area has been religiously significant since ancient times. (Whiting, pg 565) There are four sacred fountains on Bozetepe. That of Saint John the Sanctifier is near the summit. On the site is a mosque that was formerly a nineteenth-century church.
