Cape Fonar

Cape Fonar is the easternmost point of the Crimean penunsula in Ukraine. The cape is located on the western shore of Kerch Strait near the exit to Azov Sea. The cape was named Fonar that means lamp or light since it was often used as a base for navigation cressets. Nowadays the Yenikalsky Lighthouse is located on top of Cape Fonar. Unpopulated rocky coast of Cape Fonar attracts large amounts of seabirds, also dice snakes are common there.

Port Krym

Port Krym is a port in Ukraine. It is located on the western shore of Kerch Strait, in the north-eastern part of Kerch city. Next to the port is located a train station "Krym" as well as a customs/border checkpoint. Port Krym has a ferry connection with Port Kavkaz on the eastern shore of the strait. The port is also a base for pilot boats which guide navigation through the Strait of Kerch.

Kerch Strait Bridge

The Kerch Strait bridge is a proposal for a bridge spanning the Strait of Kerch between the Chushka Spit, Taman Peninsula, Russia and the Kerch Peninsula, Crimea, Ukraine. The current connection is by ferry between Port Kavkaz and Port Krym. On 25 April 2010, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed an agreement to build the bridge.

Strait of Kerch

The Kerch Strait connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, separating the Kerch Peninsula in the west from the Taman Peninsula in the east. The strait is 4.5 kilometres to 15 kilometres wide and up to 18 metres deep. The most important harbor is the Crimean city of Kerch which gives its name to the strait, formerly known as the Cimmerian Bosporus. The Russian side of the strait contains the Taman Bay encircled by the Tuzla Spit to the south and Chushka Spit to the north.

Yeni-Kale

Yeni-Kale is a fortress on the shore of Kerch Strait near Kerch city. Yeni-Kale was built by Ottoman Turks in 1699–1706 on the Kerch peninsula that belonged to the Crimean Khanate. The name Yenikale means New Fortress in Turkish (yeni - new, kale - fortress). The fortress was built under the guidance of Goloppo, who was an Italian convert to Islam. Several French engineers also took part in the construction.
