Buckland Monachorum is a village and civil parish in the West Devon district of Devon, England, situated on the River Tavy, about 10 miles north of Plymouth. In 2006 the neighbourhood had an estimated 1,511 residents and 654 dwellings. Domesday Book (1086) records Buckland Monachorum (Bocheland) as having land for 15 ploughs, a salt pan and a fishery rendering 10s.

River Tavy
The Tavy is a river on Dartmoor, Devon, England. The name derives from the Brythonic root "Taff", the original meaning of which has now been lost. It has given its name to the town of Tavistock and the villages of Mary Tavy and Peter Tavy. It is a tributary of the River Tamar and has as its own tributaries: Collybrooke River Burn River Wallabrooke River Lumburn River Walkham At Tavistock it feeds a canal running to Morwellham Quay.
