Carisbrooke Station was an intermediate station on the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway, situated near the village of Carisbrooke just outside Newport. It was a busy station for the nearby castle until the advent of the bus routes, but little used thereafter. Closed in 1953 its goods yard was by then derelict and overgrown (its only recent use having been by prisoners during World War II).

It connects Newport and Ryde, the two largest towns on the Island, as well as continuing to West Wight. Because of the road's short length, there are no confirmatory signs with distances, although on a few direction signs at junctions you may find the distance to the next major place.
