Waltham transmitting station

The Waltham transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility at Waltham-on-the-Wolds, 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Melton Mowbray. It sits inside the Waltham civil parish near Stonesby, in the district of Melton, Leicestershire, UK. It has a 315 metres guyed steel tubular mast. The main structure height to the top of the steelwork is 290.8 metres (954 ft), with the UHF television antennas contained within a GRP shroud mounted on top.

Goadby Marwood

Goadby Marwood is a village in the north of the English county of Leicestershire. It is about 6 miles north of Melton Mowbray and a few miles from the Vale of Belvoir. Most of the houses are built from locally-mined ironstone and some, including Goadby Hall, date from the 17th century. There is only one road into, and out of, the village. Goadby Marwood has no public house or shop, but has a post office with limited opening hours.

Melton and Belvoir Rural District

Melton and Belvoir Rural District was a rural district of Leicestershire, England, from 1935 to 1974. It was formed in 1935 from the merger of the Melton Mowbray Rural District and the Belvoir Rural District, with part going to Melton Mowbray urban district also. In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972 the district merged with the Melton urban district to form the new non-metropolitan district of Melton.
