Whittingham Hospital Railway

The Whittingham Hospital Railway (W.H.R. ) was a private light railway operated by Lancashire County Council to serve Whittingham lunatic asylum. Opened in 1889, it carried goods and passengers between Grimsargh on the Preston and Longridge Railway and the hospital grounds. It closed to all traffic in 1957.

Lancashire

Lancashire is sometimes referred to by the abbreviation Lancs, as originally used by the Royal Mail. The population of the ceremonial county is 1,449,300. Brookfield, Lancashire

Brookfield is an electoral ward of the city of Preston, in Lancashire, England. It is located north-east of the city centre, in the suburb of Ribbleton. As of the 2001 census the ward had a population of 7,625. As of 2008, the area is represented on the city council by three Labour councillors. The area forms part of the Preston East division of Lancashire County Council, represented by one Labour councillor.
