Cuerdale Hoard

The Cuerdale Hoard is a hoard of more than 8,600 items, including silver coins, English and Carolingian jewellery, hacksilver and ingots. It was discovered on 15 May 1840 on the southern bank of a bend of the River Ribble, in an area called Cuerdale in South Ribble near to the city of Preston, Lancashire, England.

Flixton, Greater Manchester

Flixton is a village and electoral ward within the Urmston area of the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester, England. It lies about six miles (9.7 km) to the southwest of Manchester city centre, within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire. Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts have been found locally and the area may therefore have been inhabited during those periods.

Samlesbury Hall

Samlesbury Hall is an historic house in Samlesbury, Lancashire, England, some 10 km (6 miles) east of Preston. It was built in 1325 by Gilbert de Southworth (b. 1270) and was the primary home of the Southworth Family until the early 1600s. Samlesbury Hall was built possibly to replace an earlier building destroyed during a raid by the Scots in 1322.

Brookfield, Lancashire

Brookfield is an electoral ward of the city of Preston, in Lancashire, England. It is located north-east of the city centre, in the suburb of Ribbleton. As of the 2001 census the ward had a population of 7,625. As of 2008, the area is represented on the city council by three Labour councillors. The area forms part of the Preston East division of Lancashire County Council, represented by one Labour councillor.

Hoghton railway station

Hoghton railway station was a railway station in Lancashire that served the village of Hoghton. It was situated on the East Lancashire Line between Preston and Blackburn. It was closed in 1960, a few years before the Beeching Axe.
