Hardwicke is a village south of Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England. Despite its proximity to Gloucester, the village comes under Stroud (district) Council. With its name deriving from the Old English heorde wic, “herd [tending tending] settlement”, farming is still the major industry of the parish.

A4173 road

The A4173 is a road in the English county of Gloucestershire. It runs from the A46 just north of the town of Stroud to the A38 around 2 miles south-east of Gloucester city centre. It passes through Pitchcombe, Brookthorpe and Edge. The road passes over the hills between Gloucester and the Five Valleys, and has excellent views from several points along its length.
