Newport Pagnell Rural District

Newport Pagnell was a rural district in the administrative county of Buckinghamshire, England, from 1894 to 1974. The rural district took over the responsibilities of the disbanded Newport Pagnell Rural Sanitary District. It was named after Newport Pagnell but from 1897 did not include the town as the new authority of Newport Pagnell Urban District had been created to which the town was assigned.

Tyringham Hall

Tyringham Hall, (TEER-ing-um) is a green-domed building originally designed by Sir John Soane in 1792. It is located at Tyringham, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. Later additions by Edwin Lutyens in 1924 include the magnificent Bathing Pavilion, Temple of Music, Rose Garden and, purportedly, the largest pool in Western Europe (72m). Tyringham Hall stands in Lutyens’ formal laid out gardens with a tree-lined drive leading past the deer park to a gravel sweep in front of the house.

Chicheley Hall

Chicheley Hall, in Chicheley, Buckinghamshire, was built in the first quarter of the 18th century in the Baroque style. It is one of the finest country houses in Buckinghamshire, described by Marcus Binney in The Times as "one of the dozen finest and loveliest English country houses that will ever come on the market".

Caldecote, Buckinghamshire

Caldecote is a tiny hamlet in Newport Pagnell parish in the Borough of Milton Keynes and ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire, England. The place name is fairly common in England, and is Old English meaning "cold cottage". This refers to a resting place for travellers or other strangers on the road. The original Northampton to London road runs nearby. The route was diverted in 1728 along a new road on the higher ground east of the village, causing the latter to decline.
