Powderham Castle

Powderham Castle is situated 6 miles south-east of Exeter in Devon on the western bank of the River Exe estuary, across which it faces the small river-side village of Lympstone. It is situated ⁄4 mile (0.4 km) north-east of the village of Kenton, where the entrance gates to the main approach road are situated. Building commenced, after 1390, by Sir Philip Courtenay (d.1406), the 5th or 6th son of Hugh Courtenay, 2nd Earl of Devon (d.1377).

Exeter Ship Canal

The Exeter Ship Canal, sometimes just called the Exeter Canal, downstream of Exeter, Devon, England was built in the 1560s which means it pre-dates the "canal mania" period and is one of the oldest artificial waterways in the UK.

Cockwood

Cockwood is a small village on the west side of the Exe Estuary in the county of Devon, England. Lying between the villages of Dawlish Warren and Starcross, it is separated from the estuary by the main railway line between Exeter and Torquay, and is set around a small tidal harbour which boats must reach via a bridge under the railway line. Cockwood has two public houses. The Anchor Inn which is on the harbour front and the Ship Inn, nearer the village hall.
