Interesting facts about this location

East Kent

East Kent and West Kent are one-time traditional subdivisions of the English county of Kent, kept alive by the Association of the Men of Kent and Kentish Men: an organisation formed in 1913. The Association website can be found here. The division may have risen from the ethnic differences approximately 1,500 years ago between the Jutish settlement of the east of the county and the Saxon presence in the west, although its origins are somewhat obscure.

St Lawrence Ground

The St Lawrence Ground is a cricket ground in Canterbury, Kent and is the home of Kent County Cricket Club. It is one of the oldest grounds on which first-class cricket is played, having been in use since 1847. It is also notable as one of the two grounds used regularly for first-class cricket that have a tree within the boundary.

Canterbury East railway station

Canterbury East railway station is one of two stations in Canterbury in Kent, England. It is south-southwest of the city centre and is served by Southeastern. The station and its line were built by London, Chatham and Dover Railway, while Canterbury West was built by South Eastern Railway. Although called Canterbury East the station is about ½ a mile due south of Canterbury West station, and only about twenty yards to its east.
