Lake railway station

Lake railway station is a station on the Isle of Wight serving the village of Lake. Until the construction of an interchange station with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Smallbrook Junction in 1991, this station was the newest on the island having opened in 1987. The Station is formed of only a single wooden platform with a shelter. The trains that serve this station are Class 483s. Sandown Castle, Isle of Wight

Sandown Castle was built as one of Henry VIII's Device Forts at Sandown on the Isle of Wight from 1544 onwards. The Device Forts, also known as Henrician Castles, were built by Henry VIII as a network of coastal defences to defend against the threat of the French and Spanish after his break from the Roman Catholic Church.

Sandown-Shanklin Urban District

Sandown-Shanklin was an urban district on the Isle of Wight, England, from 1933. It was created by the merger of Shanklin and Sandown urban districts along with part of Isle of Wight Rural District. http://www. visionofbritain. org. uk/relationships. jsp?u_id=10100963&c_id=10001043 It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, to form part of the South Wight district.

Dinosaur Isle

Dinosaur Isle is a purpose-built dinosaur museum located on the Isle of Wight in southern England. The museum was designed by Isle of Wight architects Rainey Petrie Johns in the shape of a giant pterosaur. It claims to be the first custom-built dinosaur museum in Europe. The £2.7 million cost of the museum was provided by Isle of Wight Council and the National Lottery Millennium Commission. Dinosaur Isle opened to visitors on 20 August 2001.
