South Kirkby and Moorthorpe is a town and civil parish located in the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. It was a coal mining village, with a large textile industry. Along with South Elmsall, the villages have all but merged into one.. The town has a population of 10,979. Hampole is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, on the border with West Yorkshire. The eastern boundary of the parish is marked by the Great North Road, and the parish lies in what was once the Barnsdale Forest. It has a population of 187. Hampole itself is a village situated on the A638 road.

Barnsdale

Barnsdale, or Barnsdale Forest, is a relatively small area of South Yorkshire, England which has a rich history. The region is steeped in folklore. Barnsdale is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Barnsdale lies in the immediate vicinity north and north-west of Doncaster, and which was formerly forested and a place of royal hunts, and also renowned as a haunt of the outlaw Robin Hood in early ballads.
