Swell, Gloucestershire
Swell is a civil parish in the English county of Gloucestershire. Swell is located in the Cotswold district immediately west of the town of Stow-on-the-Wold. The main settlements are Upper Swell and Lower Swell both of which are on B-class roads radiating from the town. The Heart of England Way long distance footpath passes through both.

Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold
The Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold took place during the English Civil War. In the Spring of 1646, King Charles I of England was getting ever more desperate to hold the Royalist cause together whilst waiting for the long promised relief forces from Ireland, Scotland and France. Sir Jacob Astley took command of the Royalist forces in the west and began to gather up the remnants from the handful of Royalist garrisons still left in the west. At this point in the war, Royalist morale was low.

Longborough is a village and civil parish 2.5 miles north of the market town of Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire. The village is about 0.5 miles east of the A424, around 1.5 miles west of the Fosse Way and is on the Heart of England Way. Longborough has a village shop and post office; a farm shop; an opera house; two public houses, one in the village itself, and the other in the hamlet of Ganborough; a village school and the 12th-century Church of England parish church of St James.

Ganborough is a hamlet located along the A424 road, approximately 2 miles NNW of Stow on the Wold. Ganborough is located in Gloucestershire, a county in South-West England. It also lies in the Cotswold Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although its boundaries are uncertain, the hamlet includes the Coach and Horses public house, owned by the local Donnington Brewery, and the surrounding houses. There is also a chambered tomb situated on a nearby hilltop.
