Virginia Water railway station

Virginia Water railway station serves the village of Virginia Water, in Surrey, England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by South West Trains. The Waterloo to Reading Line and the Chertsey Branch Line join here with the platforms at the junction, as seen in the photograph (taken facing south). Trains from Weybridge and to Reading use either side of a V-shaped platform, allowing cross-platform interchange; the junction of the tracks is at the London end of the station.

Borough of Runnymede

The Borough of Runnymede is a local government district with borough status in the English county of Surrey. It is a very prosperous part of the London commuter belt, with some of the most expensive housing in the United Kingdom outside of central London, such as the Wentworth Estate. Runnymede is entirely unparished and is largely built-up, although with expanses of countryside.

A329 road

The A329 is an east-west road in Southern England that runs from Wentworth in Surrey to Thame in Oxfordshire. The A329 starts at the A30 in Surrey and passes through the towns of Ascot, Bracknell, Wokingham, Earley, Reading, the village of Pangbourne, and Wallingford in Oxfordshire. It connects to junction 7 of the M40 before finally ending at a junction with the A418 at Thame. The A329 originally (in 1922) terminated at Reading.

Wentworth Club

Wentworth Club is a privately owned golf club and health resort in Virginia Water, Surrey on the south western fringes of London, not far from Windsor Castle. The club was founded in 1926.

Godley Hundred

Godley was a hundred in what is now Surrey, England. Egham, Thorpe, Chertsey and Chobham are all mentioned in the Chertsey Abbey charter of 673AD due to a donation by Frithuwold. Chobham manor needed to be large to have a reasonable economic importance as it covered very poor quality heathland. Most of the population of the hundred would have settled on the more fertile alluvial soil bordering the Thames. Godley appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as Godelie.
