Tithe Barn, Dunster

The Tithe Barn is a 14th century tithe barn in Dunster, Somerset, England. It has a cruciform plan. The east front has central double doors in heavy oak with a chamfered frame. It is a grade II listed building. The barn, which was originally part of a Benedictine Dunster Priory, has been much altered since the 14th century and only a limited amount of the original features survive.

Dunster Priory

Dunster Priory was established as a Benedictine monastery around 1100 in Dunster, Somerset, England. The first church in Dunster was built by William de Mohun who gave the church and the tithes of several manors and two fisheries, to the Benedictine Abbey at Bath. The priory, which was situated just north of the church, became a cell of the abbey. The church was shared for worship by the monks and the parishioners, however this led to several conflicts between them.

Tropiquaria

Tropiquaria Zoo is a small tropical house and zoo in West Somerset, England. It is located 16 miles from Taunton and 9 miles from Minehead. It is based in a 1930's art deco BBC Radio transmitter hall, which is now a grade 2 listed building. A zoo has been run from this site since the early 1990s. With a mainly African theme to the tropical hall and aquarium there are a large number of outside animal enclosures as well.

Washford Radio Museum

Washford Radio Museum is situated within the Tropiquaria wildlife park in Washford, Somerset England. It is based in a 1930’s art deco BBC Radio transmitting station, which is now a Grade II listed building.

Washford transmitting station

Washford transmitting station is a medium wave broadcasting station and low-power digital terrestrial television relay near Washford, Somerset. It was built in 1933 and uses as antenna a T-antenna between two 152 metres tall guyed masts separated by a distance of 159 metres. Originally the station used cage antennas around each mast. The station uses the frequencies 882 kHz with 100 kW, 1089 kHz with 50 kW and 1215 kHz with 50 kW.
