Thwaite St Mary

Thwaite St Mary is a rural hamlet in the English county of Norfolk, it sits just a few miles north of the Suffolk border. Thwaite – sometimes pronounced ‘twayt’ by locals – has approximately thirty-five dwellings and a population of around seventy-nine. Due to its rural location and minimal air and light pollution, Thwaite is home to an astronomical observatory run by the University of East Anglia.

Bungay railway station

Bungay railway station was opened as part of the now disused Waveney Valley Line. The station was closed in 1953 and the buildings eventually demolished to make way for the A143 road. It was one of two stations in Suffolk on the line, which curved across the county boundary then back into Norfolk.
