Ballochroy

Ballochroy is a megalithic site in Kintyre on the Argyll peninsula in Scotland. It consists of three vertical stones, side by side, aligned with various land features 7–19 miles away. Alexander Thom, known for his work on Stonehenge, maintained that the great length between the stones and the features of distant landscape lent precision to pinpointing the midsummer and winter solstices for ancient observers.

Battle of Rhunahaorine Moss

The Battle of Rhunahaorine Moss was a battle between Covenanters led by General David Leslie and Royalist forces led by Alasdair Mac Colla Chiotaich (Sir Alexander MacDonald) at Rhunahaorine Point, Kintyre, Scotland on 24 May 1647. The Covenanters defeated the Royalists. Largie Castle at Rhunahaorine, home of the MacDonalds of Largie, was razed by the forces of General David Leslie.

Largie Castle, Tayinloan

Largie Castle is a former mansion house at Tayinloan, Kintyre, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The house was designed by architect Charles Wilson for The Hon. Augustus Moreton Macdonald and was built in 1857-9. The house was pulled down in 1958.

Tayinloan

Tayinloan is a village situated on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The village has a sub post office and general store, a small hotel (currently closed), a village hall and a play park. The nearest towns are Campbeltown (19 miles south) and Tarbert (20 miles north). A ferry service runs between the village and Ardminish on the Isle of Gigha.
