Meldrum Academy

Meldrum Academy' is a modern secondary school in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It educates around 900 pupils aged 11–18. It was established in 2002 and teaches the sciences, modern languages, modern arts, English, mathematics, technical, social subjects, ICT and art and design. The school also has a large SFL (Support for Learning) department. The head teacher is currently Mr Andrew Travis and was previously Mr Andrew Sutherland and Mrs Linda Evans.

Battle of Inverurie (1308)

The Battle of Inverurie, also known as the Battle of Barra, was fought in May 1308 in the north-east of Scotland. Though part of the wider Wars of Scottish Independence it is more properly viewed as an episode in a brief but bitter civil war. The battle was a victory for the Scottish King Robert Bruce over his chief domestic enemy, John Comyn, 3rd Earl of Buchan.

Daviot, Aberdeenshire

Daviot is a village in Aberdeenshire. Theologian William Robinson Clark was born here. Daviot has one of the best examples of Neolithic stone circles in the north east of Scotland, Loanhead of Daviot stone circle, which comprises 10 stones plus one recumbent stone. Other interesting features are the House of Daviot, a disused mental home recently bought and refurbished privately, a Schlumberger explosives facility (on a nearby hill), and the first GM crop field in Scotland.

A947 road

The A947 is a single-carriageway road in Scotland that links Aberdeen to Banff via several towns in Aberdeenshire, including Newmachar, Oldmeldrum, Fyvie and Turriff. Approximately half a mile before Oldmeldrum are remarkable views of Bennachie.
