Blackwood, South Lanarkshire

Blackwood is a village which borders Kirkmuirhill, near Lanark in the central belt of Scotland. It has a few small shops, a Roman Catholic and Protestant church, a couple of primary schools and pubs. Blackwood sits adjacent to the M74 motorway - Scotland's main arterial route South to England - but remains a quiet village and a much sought-after place to stay.

Auchenheath

Auchenheath is a small village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is on the River Nethan and is located near Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill, and Lanark. Auchenheath House is a Grade B listed Italianate house. Originally built around 1842, it was extended and a chapel added later in the 19th Century.

Tillietudlem

Tillietudlem is a hamlet in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The nearby Craignethan Castle was thought to have been the inspiration for Tillietudlem Castle in Sir Walter Scott's novel Old Mortality. The hamlet has taken the name Tillietudlem and the residents have an annual event to commemorate its naming. Tillietudlem lies about one mile west of Crossford on the Corra Mill Road. Crossford is on the A72 between Hamilton and Lanark. Tillietudlem was once served by Tillietudlem railway station.

Lesmahagow Old Parish Church

Lesmahagow Old Parish Church is a congregation of the Church of Scotland within the Presbytery of Lanark. It is the largest church in the South Lanarkshire town of Lesmahagow. A Culdee settlement of Celtic monks existed prior to the 12th Century. The church was dedicated in the name of St. Machutus. This dedication was retained when King David I of Scotland granted "the Church and lands of Lesmahagow" to the Tironensian Order of monks who had already established an Kelso Abbey at Kelso.
