A9 road (Scotland)
The A9 is a major road running from the Falkirk council area in central Scotland to Scrabster Harbour, Thurso in the far north, via Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Perth and Inverness. At 273 miles (439 km), it is the longest road in Scotland and the fifth-longest A-road in the United Kingdom. Historically it was the main road between Edinburgh and John o' Groats, and has been called the spine of Scotland.

The A95 road is a major road of north-east Scotland connecting the A9 road in the Highlands to the A98 road near the coast. It leaves the A9 four miles north of Aviemore.

Slochd Summit
The Slochd Summit is a mountain pass on the A9 road and the Highland Main Line Railway in the Scottish Highlands between Inverness and Aviemore. An old military road also goes through the pass. National Cycle Network route 7 also goes over the summit, largely following the old A9. Both the road and the railway have signs marking the spot - the A9 is at a height of 1,328 feet, while the railway reaches 1,315 feet .
