Drum Castle

Drum Castle is a castle near Drumoak in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. For centuries it was the seat of the chief of Clan Irvine. The place-name Drum is derived from Gaelic druim, 'ridge'. The original 13th century tower of Drum Castle has been suggested as the work of medieval architect Richard Cementarius, who built the Bridge of Don in Old Aberdeen. It is believed to be one of the three oldest tower houses in Scotland (and notably unaltered).

Coy Burn

Coy Burn is a stream that rises in the hills north of Banchory in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Coy Burn discharges to the River Dee at Milton of Crathes. The Coy Burn along with certain other natural waters of Scotland has been under study for its role in Salmon spawning. A number of prehistorical features lie nearby including Balbridie and Bucharn to the south of the River Dee. Vicinity historical features include Crathes Castle, Maryculter House and Muchalls Castle.

Culter School

Culter School (pronounced coo-ter) is an Aberdeen City Council owned and operated primary school in Peterculter, Aberdeen, Scotland. The school was built in 1896 as a Secondary School, but was a combined Primary and Secondary School prior to the construction of Cults Academy in 1967 converted it into a Primary School. It is now a feeder school of Cults Academy.

Kincardine and Mearns

Kincardine and Mearns is one of six area committees of the Aberdeenshire council area in Scotland. It has a population 38,506 (2001 Census). There are significant natural features in this district including rivers, forests, mountains and bogs (known locally as mosses). Transport links with Aberdeen have encouraged rapid population growth, especially in the north of this region. Existing settlements such as Portlethen and Stonehaven have greatly expanded, along with industrial activity.

Milton of Crathes

Milton of Crathes is a restored set of 17th century stone buildings, presently used for retail and restaurant purposes. The historic site is associated with, and was previously an outlier of Crathes Castle. The location is close to the terminus of the Royal Deeside Railway. Coy Burn passes through the Milton of Crathes complex immediately before discharging to the River Dee.
