Westhill Academy

Westhill Academy is an Aberdeenshire Council secondary school in Westhill, near Aberdeen, Scotland, serving the Westhill, Elrick, Skene and Kingswells areas of Aberdeenshire. People who live in Skene and the country get a school bus before and after school. However pupils from nearby Kingswells, which is in neighboring council (Aberdeen City) area, have to arrange their own transport. Westhill Academy opened in the autumn of 1979 in buildings designed to accommodate 500 pupils.

Elrick

Elrick is a small village on the A944 road 7+⁄2 miles west of the city of Aberdeen. The name derives from a Gaelic word meaning a place where deer were driven for hunting. Elrick is also a common surname in the local area. It is to the south and west of Westhill.

Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route

The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) is a major infrastructure development proposed to take place on the outskirts of Aberdeen, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. First announced in January 2003, the construction has not yet begun. It was approved by ministers in late 2009. It has been particularly supported by NESTRANS, the Scottish Executive's planning group for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Skene Parish Church

Skene Parish Church is a congregation of the Church of Scotland at Skene, in the Presbytery of Gordon. The parish has two places of worship, Skene Church at Kirkton of Skene and Trinity Church at Westhill. The current minister is Rev. Stella Campbell.

Loch of Skene

The Loch of Skene is in Aberdeenshire, Scotland some 9 miles (14 km) west of the city of Aberdeen, near the Kirkton of Skene village. Loch of Skene is home to the Aberdeen and Stonehaven Yachting Club. It is designated as a Special Protection Area for wildlife conservation purposes.
