Kilconquhar

Kilconquhar is a village and parish in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland. It includes the small hamlet of Barnyards. It is bounded by the parishes of Elie, Ceres, St Monans, Carnbee, Newburn and Largo. It is approximately 9 miles from north to south. Much of the land is agricultural or wooded. The village itself is situated inland, north of Kilconquhar Loch.

Kilconquhar Loch

Kilconquhar Loch /kɨˈnjʌxər lɒx/ is a Scottish freshwater loch. This small shallow loch is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is located beside the village of the same name in East Fife, within a mile of the coastal village of Elie. The loch appears to be a comparatively recent feature, the earliest reference being to "the gret loch callit of auld the Reidmyre" in 1599 and referred to as Keanwchar Loch by 1654 in Blaeu's Atlas Novus.

Newark Castle, Fife

Newark Castle is a ruin located just outside the town of St Monans, on the east coast of Fife, Scotland. Building on the site probably dates back to the 13th century at which time the Scottish king Alexander III (1241 - 1286) spent some of his childhood there.

Abercrombie, Fife

Abercrombie is a hamlet in Fife, situated around 1 mile to the north of the village of St Monans, and 10 miles south of the town of St Andrews. Abercrombie was the former name of the parish of St Monans, although both Abercrombie and St Monans had churches. The hamlet is centered around Abercrombie Farmstead. The lands of Abercrombie have been farmed by the Stewart family for many generations and they own the adjoining farmland of Craigiewells, just north of St Monans.
