Keiss Castle

Keiss Castle is a partially ruined castle in Scotland, located less than one mile north of Keiss village centre, on sheer cliffs, overlocking the bay, and has been a major tourist attraction for many years. Keiss House replaced Keiss Castle around 1755. The old castle a Scheduled Monument was built possibly on the site of an earlier fort in the late 16th early 17th century by George 5th Earl of Caithness (1582-1643).

Duncansby Head

Duncansby Head is the most north-easterly part of the Scottish mainland, including even the famous John o' Groats, Caithness, Highland. The headland juts into the North Sea, with the Pentland Firth to its north and west and the Moray Firth to its south. The point is marked by Duncansby Head Lighthouse. A minor public road leads from John o' Groats to Duncansby Head, which makes Duncansby Head the farthest point by road from Land's End.

Gills Bay

Gills Bay, which is situated about 3 mi west of John o' Groats with the community of Gills close by, has one of the longest stretches of low-lying rock coast on the northern shores of Caithness. Its main features are a small harbour and the pier used as the mainland terminal for Pentland Ferries. The harbour shelters some small local boats together with those used for working the sheep on the off lying island of Stroma. In the right sea conditions the area is sometimes used for surfing.
