SIBC (short for Shetland Islands Broadcasting Company) is a local independent commercial radio station broadcasting in the Shetland Islands. Its coverage area is Shetland, parts of Orkney, and some 75,000 square miles of sea-lanes, fishing grounds, and offshore oil fields. The station, which is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Ian Anderson and Inga Walterson, is located at Market Street, Lerwick and broadcasts from Bressay on 96.2 MHz FM (also on 102.2 MHz in Lerwick).

Garrison Theatre
The Garrison Theatre is a 280 capacity venue in Lerwick, Shetland, Scotland, with a sprung proscenium stage with fixed raked seating. It has 19 rows, named A to S which either has 8, 12, 13, 15 or 16 seats in each row. The venue hosts dance, drama, stand up comedy, pantomime and music productions together with regular film screenings (Shetland currently has no dedicated cinema so the Garrison Theatre has monthly film screenings. A new cinema opened in 2012 - see Mareel).

Fort Charlotte, Shetland
Fort Charlotte in the centre of Lerwick, Shetland, is a five-sided artillery fort, with bastions on each corner. The first incarnation of the fort was built between 1652-3 during the First Anglo-Dutch War. Little is known of the original structure and no trace of it has been found. The second structure was built on the same site by Robert Mylne under the orders of Charles II at the start of the Second Anglo-Dutch War in 1665 at a cost of £28,000.

Gilbert Bain Hospital
The Gilbert Bain Hospital is a rural general hospital in the burgh of Lerwick, Shetland, Scotland. It is one of two hospitals in Lerwick run by NHS Shetland. The hospital has consultant-led general medical and general surgical services, a rehabilitation ward and a general practitioner and midwife-led maternity unit. Other specialities are provided by visiting consultants from NHS Grampian. Ancillary services include a laboratory and a modern radiology department.
