Battle of Morar

The Battle of Morar was a Scottish clan battle fought in 1602, in Morar, in the Scottish Highlands. It was fought between the Clan MacDonald of Glengarry against the Clan Mackenzie who were supported by the Clan Ross. A feud between the Mackenzies, led by Kenneth Mackenzie, 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail and the Clan MacDonnell of Glengarry led to the MacDonalds being attacked by the MacKenzies.

Loch Morar

Loch Morar is a freshwater loch in Morar, Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It is the fifth-largest loch in Scotland, with a surface area of 26.7 km and the deepest freshwater body in the British Isles, with a maximum depth of 1,017 ft it is deeper than the height The Shard in London. Loch Morar is of glacial origin with very steep sides and a length of 19 km . It contains five sizeable islands. The only road along the loch extends no more than four miles (6 km) along the north shore.

Eilean Ighe

Eilean Ighe is a small tidal island near Arisaig in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The area is popular for sea kayaking and a challenge for larger boats. Eilean Ighe is one of 43 tidal islands that can be walked to from the mainland of Great Britain and one of 17 that can be walked to from the Scottish mainland.

Loch Nevis

Loch Nevis is a sea loch in Lochaber on the west coast of Scotland. It runs inland from the Sound of Sleat, and is bounded by the peninsula of Knoydart to the north and North Morar to the south. Two ferry services cross Loch Nevis. One, a small passenger ferry, links the town of Mallaig with the village of Inverie on Knoydart and the hamlet of Tarbet.

Loch Ailort

Loch Ailort is a sea loch in Morar, Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. Loch Ailort is a shallow V shaped loch, with the small Ardnish Peninsula on the north side, and the large southwest facing Moidart Peninsula to the south. Loch Ailort is bounded in the northeast by the village of the same name, Lochailort and in the west, opening out into the Sound of Arisaig. To the north of the loch lies Loch Nan Uamh.
