Llanafan Fawr
Llanafan Fawr is a civil community and ecclesiastical parish in the former cantref of Buellt (Builth), until 1974 in the County of Breconshire, now part of Powys, Wales. The parish has an area of slightly over 5,000 hectares (about twenty square miles) and a scattered rural population of more than a thousand. It is named after Saint Afan and was the centre of Cantref Buallt in ancient times, before the building of Builth Wells about 9 miles away.

Cors y Llyn National Nature Reserve
Cors y Llyn National Nature Reserve can be found about 2.5 kilometres south of Newbridge on Wye, off the A470 road in mid-Wales. The bogs and open water at the centre of the reserve are enclosed by a band of trees, which are surrounded by an area of pasture. The meadow at the site’s entrance is one of the richest in wild flowers in Mid Wales.

Newbridge on Wye railway station
Newbridge on Wye railway station stood on the single-tracked Mid Wales Railway between Builth Wells and Rhayader. It was closed on 31 December 1962 and the trackbed removed. The site has been cleared and now contains senior citizens' housing. An overbridge which formed the entry point to the station from the south is still in place.

Battle of Orewin Bridge
The Battle of Orewin Bridge (also known as the Battle of Irfon Bridge) was fought between English (led by the Marcher Lords) and Welsh armies on 11 December 1282 near Builth Wells in mid-Wales. It was a decisive defeat for the Welsh because their leader, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd was killed, and this effectively ended the independence of Wales.

Cilmeri railway station
Cilmeri railway station is a railway station serving the village of Cilmeri, in Powys, mid Wales. It is situated on the Heart of Wales Line. The station is located just to the south of the A483. All trains serving the station are operated by Arriva Trains Wales. There are four trains a day in each direction from Monday to Saturday, and two services on Sundays.
