Montgomeryshire County War Memorial

The Montgomeryshire County War Memorial stands tribute to commemorate those from Montgomeryshire who have been killed in all past wars. It was originally constructed to honour those having died in the First World War, but has since been rededicated. Built from Portland stone, the memorial was completed in 1923 and is just over 20 feet tall. This memorial can be reached by taking a footpath opposite the entrance to Montgomery Castle Car Park.

Hen Domen

Hen Domen, Welsh, meaning "old mound", is the site of a medieval timber motte-and-bailey castle in Powys, Wales. It is the site of the original Montgomery Castle and was built by Roger de Montgomery in 1070. From 1105 the castle was the home of the de Boulers family and it is from Baldwin de Boulers that Montgomery gets its Welsh name, Trefaldwyn "The Town of Baldwin".

Chirbury Rural District

Chirbury was a rural district in Shropshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 based on that part of the Montgomery rural sanitary district which was in Shropshire (and England), the Welsh part forming Forden Rural District in Montgomeryshire). It consisted of the three parishes of Brompton and Rhiston, Chirbury and Worthen. It was abolished in 1934 under a County Review Order and merged into the Clun Rural District.

Llandyssil

Llandyssil is a village in Powys, Wales, about two miles from the town of Montgomery. The village is within the parish of the same name; there are 420 inhabitants in the parish, of whom 300 live in the village itself.
