2003 Alabama earthquake

The 2003 Alabama earthquake took place on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at 3:59 A.M. Central Daylight Time (local time when the event occurred) eight miles (13 km) east-northeast of Fort Payne, Alabama. The number of people who felt this quake was exceptionally high as the earthquake could be felt in 11 states across the East Coast as far north as southern Indiana. The earthquake was strongly felt throughout metropolitan Atlanta.

Camp DeSoto

Camp DeSoto is a Christian summer camp for female campers ages 8-16. It is located on Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama. Activities include horse riding, archery, aerobics, canoeing, photography, etc. See Activities page. Camp Desoto holds two four-week sessions each summer, each at a cost of $3800. Girls at Desoto are assigned to tribes (Cherokee, Creek, or Chickasaw), which compete against one another in athletic, drama, and singing competitions.
