The Iron & Steel Museum of Alabama also known as the Tannehill Museum is an industrial museum located at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in McCalla, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Opened in 1981, it covers 13,000 square feet . The museum is an interpretive center on 19th century iron making technology and features belt driven machines, tools and products of the times. It focuses on the Roupes Valley Ironworks at Tannehill which operated nearby during the Civil War.

North Johns, Alabama

North Johns is the second smallest incorporated town in Jefferson County, Alabama. It is located approximately 20 miles west of downtown Birmingham, United States and about eight miles southwest of Hueytown. It was a thriving mining town at the beginning of the 20th century when more than 2000 people lived in and around the community. It is named after a Welsh-born mining engineer, Llewllyn Johns, who opened coal mining operations throughout the area in the 1880s.
