Smiths Station, Alabama

Smiths Station is a city in Lee County, Alabama, United States. It is a part of the Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is also known by locals as Smiths, although the official name is Smiths Station. According to the local legend, a postmaster around 1960 grew tired of writing Smiths Station, so he took it upon himself to drop "Station" from the name of the community.

WRCG

WRCG is an active rock-formatted radio station in Columbus, Georgia. WRCG previously held the call letters WRBL. As WRBL, the station first operated on the frequency of 1200 kHz before being reassigned in the early 1940s to 1230 and later to 1420 with a power of 5 kW. In 2010, the station began simulcasting at 106.9 FM with a broadcast translator. The station is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves radio network.

Cumberland Plateau

The Cumberland Plateau is the southern part of the Appalachian Plateau. It includes much of eastern Kentucky, part of Tennessee, and a small portion of northern Alabama and northwest Georgia . The terms "Allegheny Plateau" and the "Cumberland Plateau" both refer to the dissected plateau lands lying west of the main Appalachian Mountains. The terms stem from historical usage rather than geological difference, so there is no strict dividing line between the two.
