Searcy Hospital was a state-owned and operated psychiatric hospital in Mount Vernon, Alabama. It was situated on the grounds of the former Mount Vernon Arsenal, a former United States Army munitions depot dating back to 1828. It closed permanently on October 31, 2012.

Fort Stoddert

Fort Stoddert was a stockade fort in the Mississippi Territory, in what is today Alabama. It was located on a bluff of the Mobile River, near modern Mount Vernon, close to the confluence of the Tombigbee and Alabama Rivers. It served as the western terminus of the Federal Road which ran through Creek lands to Fort Wilkinson in Georgia.

Bucks, Alabama

Bucks is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 32. It is located in the northeastern section of the county near the Mobile River, along U.S. Route 43. The James M. Barry Electric Generating Plant, a coal- and natural gas-fired power station operated by Alabama Power, is located in Bucks.

Tensaw River

The Tensaw River is a river in Baldwin County, Alabama. It is a distributary of the Mobile River, approximately 41 miles long. It is formed as a bayou of the Mobile approximately 6 miles south of the formation of the Mobile by the confluence of the Tombigbee and Alabama rivers, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31.06795|-87.96306||||||| | |name= }}. The Tensaw flows alongside the Mobile and Middle rivers, with the Tensaw being the eastern most flowing river.
