Danville, Alabama

Danville is an unincorporated community in Morgan County, Alabama in the United States, and is included in the Decatur Metropolitan Area and the larger Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. A noteworthy Danville native, David Donald Albritton became the first African-American to hold the World High Jump record at 6'9-3/4" set at the Olympic Trials on Randall's Island in the East River between Queens and Manhattan. His jump on July 11, 1936 was 6-3/4" above his height of 6'3".

Courtland Airport is a public-use airport located two nautical miles northeast of the central business district of Courtland, a town in Lawrence County, Alabama, United States. It is owned by the Lawrence County Commission and was formerly known as Lawrence County Airport. This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 and 2009–2013, both of which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

Battle of Day's Gap

The Battle of Day's Gap, fought on April 30, 1863, was the first in a series of American Civil War skirmishes in Cullman County, Alabama, that lasted until May 2, known as Streight's Raid. Commanding the Union forces was Col. Abel Streight; Brig. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest led the Confederate forces.
